Tutor for International Young Scholars 2005 – 2008
International Young Scholars is an after-school program run through Syracuse University to meet the needs of refugee families. The children are between the ages of 4-13, and typically come from Somolia, Sudan, or Nigeria, as well as other countries. The tutors help children with homework and organize educational activities for them, such as music lessons, knitting, storytelling, dance, visiting artist presentations, chemistry, paper-art, etc. As a tutor I helped organize and facilitate these events, and worked with kids individually or in small groups.
